ThreePenny Opera is the next production to grace the stage of University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Black Box Theatre.
The production opens Wednesday at Weber Fine Arts building for a four-day run and will return Dec. 2-5.
“The ThreePenny Opera”, by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, focuses on the conflict following the marriage of a London criminal and the daughter of the city’s ‘King of Beggars’.
The production transforms old-fashioned opera and operetta forms, incorporating a sharp political perspective and the sound of 1920s Berlin Dance bands and cabaret. The production inspired later hits like “Cabaret” and “Chicago.”
Tickets for the production range in price from $6 to $16 and are now on sale. Admission is free to UNO students.
