UNO Student will speak at Women’s Entrepreneurial Event

FemCity, or the Femfessionals, is a new group created to support, connect and empower entrepreneurial women in the Omaha area. Their events usually feature open networking time and guest speakers who share their experiences, challenges and give tips on success in the professional world.

At this month’s event, it will feature the Failing Forward Panel: Why Resilience Matters. Local female entrepreneurs from different industries with discuss the importance of resilience in the start-up industry.

One of the speakers in the 40-minute panel is Hannah Olson. Olson is local fashion designer, founder of Hannah Caroline Couture and is also a student at UNO. Olson began her plus-size fashion line a few years ago and it has since grown into a full-blown business.

Other panelists will include Kristin DeKay, co-founder and operations director at Grain & Mortar, Moniki Gunn Cannon, coach and co-founder at Gunn & Cannon Empowerment Group, Inc., Jamie Gutierrez, owner and president of Midwest Maintenance and moderator Stefanie Monge, FemCity Omaha President and serial entrepreneur.

Monthly events are hosted the last Wednesday of every month from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at various locations in the Omaha area. This event is free for Femfessionals Business Members, $15 for Femfessionals Community Members and $15 for the public.

Advanced registration is required due to limited space. Registration is non-refundable, but can be transferred to someone else before 3 pm on the event date.

FemCity Omaha provides members access to peer mentoring groups, the Women’s Startup Book Club and additional business resources and training opportunities. You do not have to own a business to join.
