Today is this year’s Omaha Gives’ 5th annual 24-hour charitable challenge. Several offices and organizations from UNO are participating in the challenge:
KVNO Classical 90.7 FM
KNVO is a classical broadcast station housed in UNO’s College of Public Affairs and Community Service Building. In addition to music, KNVO also broadcasts on-air news coverage.
Maverick Food Pantry
The Maverick Food Pantry provides food and personal hygiene items to members of the UNO community in need. The organization provides immediate help to those in need and connects them to Omaha area organizations for more long-term support.
UNO Student Veteran Organization
The UNO SVO is a registered chapter of the Student Veterans of America, a national veteran advocacy group. The organization provides a support network for military and veteran students attending UNO, as well as sponsoring and participating in charity work.
Glacier Creek Preserve
The Glacier Creek Preserve is an area hosting restored tallgrass prairie with a stream, woodlands and wetlands. The preserve is also an educational hub, home to UNO’s Environmental Education and Research facility.
Donations can be made on the Omaha Gives website. In addition to donations, two drawing will be held every hour to receive an additional $535 donation.
