For die hard Star Wars fans, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is a dream come true. Complete with a 10-foot Death Star hanging in the lobby and Emperor’s throne with a remote panel that controls it, this movie theater chain is anything but cookie-cutter.
“We are a movie theater dedicated to the true movie goers,” said manager Ashley Viana. “We are trying to revitalize the enjoyment of going to the movies. We also enforce a strict no talking, no texting, and no late entry to the theater policy so that our guests can have the best possible experience.
The theater opened its doors a little over a month ago. Since then, it has received a lot of national attention. Entertainment Weekly wrote an article about it, and it was even trending worldwide on Facebook.
The CEO of Disney recently called the La Vista theater. He told the staff what a great job they were doing and gave them his blessing for the opening weekend of the movie.
Naturally, a Star Wars themed movie theater would have to be doing something special for the opening weekend of the new film, right? Let’s just say there are a few somethings.
“It will be one crazy Star Wars party at the Alamo,” said manager Rolando Lopez. “For starters, our lobby makes the Alamo the go-to theater in Omaha to watch The Force Awakens. It’s not just a dine-in movie theater; it’s an experience.”
Along with showing the movie for 24 hours straight the first weekend, the Alamo will be bringing in people from the 501st Legion dressed up as the characters from the movie. The staff has been encouraged to wear costumes as well to get in the spirit.
It doesn’t stop there. Star Wars themed food and drink specials will also be available, including Jabba’s Critter Fritters and Yoda’s Soba Noodle Salad. Those over the age of 21 can kick back and enjoy the fruity and flavorful Tatooine Sunset.
If you get the chance to see the movie at the Alamo on opening weekend, keep an eye out for people from Good Morning America and Legend Comics.
