Over the past few months, there has been a lot of commotion in Omaha with the coming of the long awaited Chick-Fil-A.
But, on Jan. 31 some new chicken competition will hit the Omaha market.  Raising Cane’s, a fast food joint that specializes in chicken strips, will open its doors on 72nd and Dodge.
The Omaha location will be the company’s third Nebraska franchise, with the other two locations in Lincoln.
Let me be the first one to say, Chick-Fil-A, you better watch out.  If the success of the Lincoln locations foretells anything, it’s that Raising Cane’s will be a hit.  Lincolites rave about the delicious chicken strips and the famous “Cane’s Sauce” which is some kind of ketchup, mayonnaise mixture that customers can’t get enough of.  The Raising Cane’s parking lots are always full, and the drive through almost always has a line.
Catherine Larsen, an Omaha native that moved to Lincoln for college three years ago, tells of her first experiences with Raising Cane’s.
“The first time I had it, I thought it was really weird,” said Larsen. “Their entire menu consisted of nothing but chicken strips and one kind of dipping sauce. Honestly, I didn’t care for it. Then my friends kept telling me that I had to give it another shot, that there’s no way I would dislike it a second time. Somehow, the next time I got hooked.  My friends were right. Now it’s my favorite place to get fast food.”
The ribbon-cutting will begin Thursday morning at 9:30am.  The doors will officially open at 10. The first 100 dine-in customers will be gifted with a free t-shirt and a coupon for a free box meal that can be used on a later visit.  For the first week of Raising Cane’s grand opening, customers will be invited to enter a drawing for $1000 that will be donated to a charity of the winner’s choice and free Raising Cane’s for a year.
