Single file line, please

Students who had their new student ID photos taken in the Ak-sar-ben Room of the Milo Bail Student Center after Aug. 26 will have to line up once more.

The cards must be verified due to technical difficulties with the equipment at that location.

New cards will be issued in Room 110 of the Engineering Building Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The threads of life

The Women’s Resource Center will be sponsoring a workshop with UNO alum Janie York. Participants in this workshop will create a decorative quilted wall hanging that signifies an important memory, event or feeling from their life.

The workshop will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 24 in the Council Room of the Milo Bail Student Center. The cost is $35. For more information, call 554-2730.

Viva la Raza

In conjunction with Latino Heritage month, Austin, Texas, filmmaker Hector Galan will give a presentation titled “Forgotten Americans” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 in the Nebraska Room of the Milo Bail Student Center. Galan will talk about life in the Texas border region.

Olga Olivares, a founder of the Mexican-American Historical Society in Scottsbluff, Neb., will discuss Mexican-Americans’ contributions to the state since the early 1900s on Sept. 26. Her lecture, “Pride in the Mexican Culture,” will be at 11:30 a.m. in the Nebraska Room.

Flaunt your stuff


Latino Heritage Month closing celebration will end with the Latino Talent Showcase on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. in the Nebraska Room of the Milo Bail Student Center.

To register to perform in the show you must call Aisha DaCosta at 554-2711 in the SOLP office. The registration deadline is Oct. 1.

Maverick pride

The UNO Basketball Pep Band is looking for students of all majors to audition for this year’s ensemble. The ensemble performs at Maverick basketball games for both men’s and women’s teams.

The auditions will be in Room 236 of the Strauss Performing Arts Center from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and noon to 2 p.m. Friday.

The auditions consist of playing one prepared piece and sight-reading a piece. For more information, call Adrienne Merit at 554-3427.
