It’s about time, people.

The Milo Bail Student Center will get a face lift and several much needed building improvements – including a new heating and cooling system, a welcome desk, more meeting space and quiet study rooms, an open-concept atrium, a lactation room, floor washing station for chapel, lockers, mini-kitchen, WEPA wireless printing and charging stations and laptop checkouts.

The renovation project began in May, and is expected to be completed by August of 2016. Although, things are quickly taking shape. See more photos below.

UNO’s Senior Director of Student Involvement Bill Pickett said “the student center renovation will enhance the student experience by providing some additional meeting space, new food eateries, and additional social lounge space to serve the needs of our students.”

Check out this architect’s rendering of what the Milo Bail Student Center will look like after the renovation.

A few key things to note in this 3-minute video:

A new MavCAFE will be located on the south side of the atrium on the first floor and will feature a coffee shop and Blue Bunny Ice Cream Bar where you can  build your choice of malts, milkshakes, sundaes, banana splits or smoothies, in addition to all of your favorite coffee drinks.

The previous Maverick Lounge space will now house the MavGRILL which will serve an assortment of slowly smoked, seasoned items; beef brisket, pork roast, chicken, ribs, sausage along with an expanded menu of additional items.

The 15-month project to beautify the student center doesn’t come without a hitch: several of the student organizations and departments housed in the building will be relocated to other areas of the building or campus. In fact, The Gateway’s office will move to Room 113 of the Eppley Administration Building next door.

UNO campus officials have said this about the move, “your daily path to reach various destinations may shift and change a little. We plan to keep the building open as best we can.”

Some student service organizations will be located on the second and third floor meeting spaces and rooms of the building.
