Crossroads parking in the dust, new option coming

As the semester comes to a close, campus will see changes to parking in the fall.
Among these changes are the termination of the Crossroads Mall parking garage option. Instead,
those wanting a free parking option—and willing to sacrifice a little time to ride the shuttle—will be able to park in the lot west of the arena on Center Campus.
There will be two shuttle routes traveling from Center Campus. One will be devoted to Pacific Cam-pus via Aksarben Village, while the other will travel to Dodge Campus by use of 72nd Street.
A potential problem would be the future construction congestion along the Pacific Campus shuttle route. In addition, 72nd Street can be a nightmare at times due to traffic. Travel time on that shuttle route will need to be considered when making the class commute.
Being able to park on UNO grounds for free, rather than the less-than-pleasant Crossroads Mall, will be the perfect way to make the arena’s lots multipurpose. Hats off to the parties responsible for the parking updates.
Parking is always a controversial issue, but at least there are proactive efforts trying to accommodate our growing university.
