Mavs Pull Off Upset Special
The Mavericks shocked No. 6 Washburn 87-83 Saturday at Sapp Fieldhouse, handing the Lady Blues their second loss of the season. The Mavs' upset victory followed a 98-59 beating at the hands of Pittsburg State on Wednesday.
Basketball starts conference play 0-2
The Mavericks' rebounding woes continued Friday night with a 98-69 loss to No. 14 Fort Hays State. In their last two games, the Mavericks have been out rebounded 94-51. An injury to sophomore center Josh Lynch continues to hamper UNO's inside presence, forcing the Mavs to start four guards. The injury also puts the rebounding burden on UNO redshirt freshman center John Karhoff.
Expectations & Realities
A buddy and I have a theory about the NBA. There are NBA teams and there are association teams. Association teams typically play exceptional defense, exploit rebounds and can deliver in the half court.
Bullock, Mavs win 65-49
The UNO men's basketball team beat the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves 65-49 Saturday in front of 473 fans at Sapp Fieldhouse. It was the first regularseason game for the Mavs, who were coming off a 102-72 exhibition loss to Michigan State last Monday. UNO senior guard Tyler Bullock led the Mavs with 24 points on 9-16 shooting from the field. The 2010-2011 First-team All- MIAA selection also added seven rebounds, five assists and four steals in 31 minutes of play.
Spartans drop Mavs 102 -72 in brotherly reunion
While the state school in Lincoln will soon be making the yearly trip to East Lansing, Mich., Monday night it was UNO coach Derrin Hansen's men's basketball team that had the honors.
