As a hopeless romantic, I think Valentine's Day is a very exciting time of year.  It may be  my favorite holiday.

In the last two years, the UNO hockey program has made a lot of changes. With the addition of head coach Dean Blais and the move to the WCHA, you could argue that the Mavs have finally stepped up to big boy hockey.

There's a scene in "Mean Girls"where the gym teacher is facilitating a lecture on "sex ed," and as he chomps loudly on a piece of gum, he yells, "Don't have sex, because you will get pregnant and DIE!" He then holds up a plastic bin of condoms and, ironically, adds, "OK, now everyone take some rubbers."

Mary Poppins: The Broadway Musical" is pure magic. I've loved the movie since I was five, and the stage production exceeded even my highest expectations.

 A vampire, a werewolf and a ghost living together sounds like the beginning of a really bad joke, or at the very least, a really bad ‘tween book.

We all saw it coming.  Icy road conditions, subzero temperatures and dangerous wind chills were predicted for the start of the week. By Monday, it was clear that travel the next day would be difficult at best. By 9 p.m., every primary and secondary school and some colleges in the Omaha area had canceled school for Tuesday, and many daycares shut down in anticipation of dangerous road conditions.

Somehow, talking about being at the forefront of technology and begging young Americans to become teachers just does not draw as much attention as firing your entire cabinet amid riots in the streets.

Life as a college student is challenging. Why not simplify things a little if you can? If you have an iPad, iPod or iPhone or if you are just iCurious… ahem, curious, I've compiled a list of apps that I've found either useful, efficient or - because we all need a little frivolity in our lives - silly.
