Campus Recreation offers free fitness classes

Feeling a little stressed? UNO Campus Recreation has the perfect solution, offering a variety of free drop-in fitness classes each weekday.

“It’s probably our best semester yet,” says Dave Daniels, assistant director for Fitness/Wellness and Instructional Programs. “We’re offering the largest variety of classes we’ve ever offered, and some of the veteran instructors have built up quite a following.”

Whether you’re looking to sooth your body and mind with yoga, get wet with Aqua Lunch or Water Exercise Training class, condition your muscles with Women on Weights, Super Circuit or Prime Time Pump or revitalize your body with kickboxing, step aerobics or basic training, Campus Recreation offers a little bit of everything.

Daniels sees many benefits for students interested in attending the drop-in classes.

“It’s a good way to de-stress a little bit from classes and a good opportunity to meet people on campus,” Daniels says. “And with the variety of classes, I think we can offer something for everybody.”

Nearly all of the class instructors are UNO students who have been certified in fitness instruction. There is no pre-registration and no limit on frequency of attendance or on class size, so bring your friends.

And the best part – the classes are free.

“As long as you have a student ID, you are welcome,” Daniels says. “UNO is one of the few universities that offers free classes like these.”
