The Omaha women’s soccer team fell on Tuesday to Missouri State 1-0, a game in which offense was hard to come by. A 32nd minute goal by Missouri State’s Erin Stewart was enough to lift the Bears over the Mavericks.
The Mavericks struggled to produce accurate tries at the goal, finishing the game with 10 shots, but only one of them on goal. Freshman midfielder Emily Romero had the Mavericks’ lone shot on goal. Sophomore midfielder Lydia Holtmann contributed with two shots.
Despite giving up the 32nd minute goal, Omaha goalkeeper Katlyn Schochenmaier played a solid match, making three saves on six shots. Schochenmaier now has 46 saves on the year and a save percentage of .793.
Omaha had a great late chance when in the 88th minute, Romero sent a ball into the box that was headed by freshman Abby Meader, but was barely blocked out of bounds.
With the loss, Omaha has completed their non conference schedule, posting a record of 3-5-2. They begin conference play this weekend at North Dakota State on Friday and South Dakota State on Sunday.
